Working as a key member of Aflac Global Investments (GI) and the Global Operations Management team, collaborate on the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the data management and operational governance of systematic workflows.  The position requires expertise in the business, data management, operations, and technology fields, making recommendations that enhance the value of Global Investments Data Management.  In addition to the daily responsibilities described below; the Data Analytics and Technology Analyst will also work on operational related data analytics and technology projects and help to support communications with colleagues in Japan operations and other key stake-holders (Investment Compliance, Trading, Risk, Portfolio Management, Investment Accounting, and FP&A) to foster a more efficient work-stream.  The Data Analytics and Technology Analyst, in support of the overall Trading work-flow, will also deliver second line data management and analytics for investments and investment related activities in Aflac’s subsidiary, Aflac Asset Management LLC (AAMLLC) and Aflac Asset Management of Japan.

Primary Relationships:             GI data management, trade operations, information technology, GI business leaders and staff, investment compliance and business partners in headquarters including accounting, tax, legal, treasury, and all other stakeholders



  • Collaborate on the advancement and development of Global Investments Data Management with focus on identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting platform. Participate in the development of well documented processes to enhance the overall control environment within the Data Management group and overall Operations function.
  • Collaborate on the technical development and maintenance of the data management system production and data environment, including providing support for the development and automation of workflows specific to maintenance, governance, and integrity of data sources (internal and external) as it relates to all portfolios (internal and external). 
  • Ensure data management of internal subsystems (data warehouses) is accurate and error free.  Work with internal stake-holders to evaluate and elevate the operational requirements to support existing and new investment instruments and account types.  Confirm data and market analytics through various investment and third party systems managers.
  • Collaborate on the advancement of investment data management reports for senior management and business partners.
  • Convert business and financial logic into source code and manage testing and deployment as refinements and changes are required in the trading system (Aladdin).
  • Provide subject matter expertise on technology programming and coding related issues.
  • Research and resolve all market or portfolio data errors while looking for ways to maintain an error free data environment.  This includes, but not limited to, security and pricing reports. 
  • Integral member of the Global Operations team to ensure Global investments governance and integrity of data requirements are met, while also identifying gaps in procedural documentation and making necessary updates.
  • Produce and present oral and written analyses and concepts, including management recommendations, to senior management.
  • Stay abreast of developing techniques and regulations to ensure operational risk is current and update the operational procedural documents accordingly.



  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in financial services technology and data management and/or operations management (preferably life insurance and/or asset management), either in industry, as a consultant, or an intern.
  • Working knowledge / experience in SQL, Python, C#, Excel, and VBA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Aladdin and Code Red.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of public and private fixed income asset classes, public and private equity, alternatives and derivatives with demonstrated experience building technology architecture to support comprehensive data management reporting and analyses.
  • Working knowledge of accounting practices and principles is a plus
  • Knowledge of statistics and its application to the financial services industry with noted emphasis on Data Analytics, ideally within an insurance asset manager.
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated experience deploying technical work into business workflows offering efficiency while minimizing errors.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting to executive management.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Team player is a must
