Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Maine for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
• Extensive knowledge of operating principles and methodologies applicable to claims, training, and risk management; expert knowledge of Aflac’s mission, objectives, and procedures across various departments, and the framework in which the program operates; applies a high degree of skill in applying knowledge to the analysis and resolution of complex or sensitive claims related problems.
• Broad knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory and industry requirements; knowledge of legal and medical terminology; understanding of principles and practices of organization, administration and management
• Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement, and maximize funds expenditure while maintaining and improving quality standards.
• Knowledge of employee relations to handle employee issues proactively.
• Demonstrated ability to apply operations management and business process re-engineering tools and techniques to a wide variety of business techniques.
• Successful completion of Aflac’s management development training or equivalent management/leadership training.
• Strong project management, leadership, and practice development skills.
Education & Experience Required
• Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or a related field
• 10 years of professional job-related experience.
• 8 years of management experience.
• Broad knowledge of Paid Leave Absence and Disability products and system.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
• Master's Degree in a related field.
• Insurance industry designations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Provides strategic direction and leadership to teams dedicated to the state leave plan to ensure the retention and growth of the account; manages client expectations to ensure exceptional program performance.
• Ensures compliance to account mandated services’ standards, best practices, and client service requirements, including evaluation and support of technology capabilities needed to enable business processes.
• Conducts necessary regulatory negotiations, ensuring applicable state, federal, and insurance industry rules, regulations, and guidelines are followed, and recommends changes in interpretation and practices when appropriate.
• Directs the planning and implementation of policies, objectives, and activities of departments to ensure continuing operations, maximize returns on investments, and increase productivity.
• Provides oversight of business unit key performance indicators, inventory management and performance guarantee tracking.
• Directs the development of an organizational framework and provides the necessary leadership to ensure the ongoing availability of a qualified and motivated staff to meet current needs and planned future growth; develops succession plans for key positions.
• Develops long-range visionary strategic plans and annual budgets for the areas within scope of responsibility and ensures that operations are managed within authorized budgets; advises, develops, reviews, and approves budgets, plans, and business goals.
• Reviews and interprets performance against operating plans and standards for the division; provides information and reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in plans; presents monthly reports on performance, and develops and presents matters requiring decisions to key management team for the division.
• Performs other duties as required.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this job is $150,000 to $210,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
