Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Knowledge of company operations, products, and services 
  • Fundamental knowledge of auditing process and quantitative and qualitative risk assessment methodologies 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree In a related field
  • Up to 2 years of job related experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with conducting proactive market conduct reviews to identify and address nonconformance to insurance laws and regulations; works with management to determine the regulatory impact to Aflac’s policies and services related to claims processing; assists with ongoing audits reviewing existing department processes and procedures to identify compliance or quality issues; works closely with Compliance and other departments to recommend changes or enhancements that streamline activities or enhance service turnaround times, productivity, and quality 
  • Serves as a liaison between Compliance and Claims; tracks, researches, and responds to Department of Insurance complaints within established time frames; assists in the research and coordination of responses to regulatory inquiries; resolves issues, answers questions, and clarifies interpretations of laws and regulations or potential changes in business practices 
  • Assesses, analyzes, and improves the effectiveness and efficiency of governance and operational control processes; identifies process risks and ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; implements appropriate control, design, and risk mitigation methods; monitors implementation and revises for effectiveness; conducts continuous improvement audits to ensure that corrective actions are followed 
  • Coordinates with departmental teams such as Research and Resolution, Critical, and Fraud to gather, analyze and implement process flow changes related to all claims risk activities; serves as a claims subject matter expert for current and upcoming legislation proposals that may impact Aflac; participates in project review sessions and coordinates with Information Technology regarding any system changes 
  • Reviews, documents, and acts as a point of contact for Aflac Trust on processes involving policyholder claims management at the associate level; provides quarterly closure reporting of death claims; researches and resolves regulatory questions, reporting discrepancies, and interest calculations; assists with completing reports of external audit examinations as necessary; collaborates with Regulatory Compliance to initiate state emergency order procedures and reporting; develops reports for market conduct exams and mitigation activities; reviews accuracy of incoming reports related to claims information 
  • Drives an ongoing awareness and understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and compliance processes; forwards more complex initiatives to a more experienced compliance coordinator for guidance and/or action 
  • Performs other tasks as required

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $45,000 to $65,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. 

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
