Job Summary
Manages efforts to implement efficiency initiatives associated with production-based business processing at the functional level for the department; develops strategic and tactical operational plans to ensure achievement of company and departmental goals as it relates to production management; reviews processes and procedures to streamline activities to enhance service turnaround time; coordinates resource management of production staff based on production volumes and capacity; tracks the staffing impacts resulting from these efforts and ensures all follow-up activities are concluded and documented
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
•Manages production-based business processing at the functional level for the department; gathers and analyzes data and reports summarizing activities and trends; develops strategic and tactical operational plans to ensure achievement of company and departmental goals as it relates to production management; performs independent review of problem situations; develops solutions and implements actions to resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction; reviews processes and procedures to streamline activities to enhance service turnaround time; coordinates resource management of production staff based on production volumes and capacity; ensures that workflow processes facilitate effective and efficient use of corporate resources and enhance customer satisfaction
• Leads production projects and clean up processes, and ensures deliverables are completed timely; tracks the staffing impacts resulting from these efforts and ensures all follow up activities are concluded and documented
• Directs efforts to implement process improvement initiatives associated with production management; facilitates calibration sessions; uses methods such as work process studies, statistical analysis, and assessments of production area performance to establish adherence to standards and scorecards; ensures that production is addressed according to appropriate priorities and standards
• Coordinates and oversees process analysis studies for the division, documenting problem areas and recommending resolutions; monitors existing processes to ensure relevancy and usability; oversees development of new and revised reports required to measure and report on goal attainment
• Partners with Production Management staff to determine alternative approaches to business processes; identifies training needs; projects staffing requirements based on production levels and capacity
• Identifies, analyzes, and monitors business technology requirements and enhancement possibilities; recommends viable technological solutions, modifications, and applications; prepares recommendations for implementation of initiatives; participates in and supports company-wide
• Under nominal direction, continually supports the New Business production process to include creating, reviewing and disseminating deliverables which impact processing.
• Generates visibility to upstream /downstream operational areas of current processing experiences daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually
• Performs other related duties as required
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 5-6 years professional, related work experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
- Inventory Management , Staffing and Capacity Planning experience
- Experience in the insurance industry
Job Knowledge & Skills
• Broad knowledge of production management concepts, operating principles, and operational management methodology applicable to business processing; a high degree of skill in applying this knowledge to the analysis and resolution of very complex or sensitive operational issues; ability to apply new developments and methodologies to direct the improvement in efficiencies
• Broad knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory and industry requirements, standard concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to the insurance industry and claims processing
• Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement, and maximize expenditure of funds while maintaining and improving quality standards
• Knowledge of staffing models and inventory planning concepts to plan, implement, and maximize expenditure of resources
• Intermediate personal computer skills with experience in Windows-based software; experience using Microsoft Outlook or a similar e-mail system software; Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with senior management, and internal and external business contacts
