Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbia, SC for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
• Classroom management skills including the ability to mentor trainees and to facilitate learning by the most effective methods
• Knowledge of Internal Operations areas to answer inquiries and handle problems
• Extensive knowledge of how current adult learning theory applies to developing curriculum designed for adult learners
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficient in learning software, tools and technology in use within training team
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, to include products, processes, and terminology
• Designation as a certified trainer through Aflac’s Trainer Certification program or equivalent training
• Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communication and team facilitation skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers; ability to persuade, market, and sell new ideas
• Ability to synthesize and decide best communication approaches to teach adult students
• Ability to design, adapt, review, and interpret training materials for at least 2 Internal Operations business units
• Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree Education or a related field
- Three years of work-related experience that demonstrates the frequent use and general knowledge of training and development practices, techniques, and standards
- Two years of experience with demonstration of industry training standards and video production
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
- Trainer certification
- Two years of experience conducting workshops, instructing, or teaching
- One year of experience within business unit that will be primary assigned trainee business unit
Travel
Travel is less than or equal to 10%.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Coordinates training programs, to include creating the class calendar, scheduling, reviewing and updating lesson plans and presentation materials; ensures all scheduling and setup is completed for the class; prepares and distributes training aids, such as instructional materials, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids; initiates class sign-up sheets and verifies class attendance; issues class attendance certificates
• Modifies and presents training programs; tracks and analyzes training programs by examining training participants’ performance; administers employee exams; administers trainer surveys throughout training courses; recommends changes to the training programs; conducts training programs to enhance career development and increase employee competencies/skills on new roducts/services, system changes, etc.; identifies program needs, obtains technical data, and schedules programs; prepares reports including Employee Logs, Performance Reports, Weekly Assessments, and Weekly Training Summaries, etc.
• Designs, develops, revises, and delivers course materials for two or more splits or ABU functions within an administrative operations business unit
• Demonstrated proficiency of skills using department rubric related to instructional theory, course construction, face-to-face, virtual, video learning, gamification mechanics and classroom management and measurement
• Develops trainees and tracks their progress using quality control reporting; monitors trainee performance, attendance, and conduct; maintains employee files; conducts one-on-one meetings with trainees weekly; oversees direction, coordination, and evaluation of trainee groups; practices classroom management skills to ensure an environment conducive to learning; provides management with weekly progress reports; submits reports to business unit leadership to provide updates on trainees; schedules transition meetings with business unit supervisors prior to trainee graduation; facilitates the employees move to the business units at graduation
• Researches and compiles information on special initiatives/projects for presentation to management; coordinates requests for specific training related to trends or changes in company products, policies/procedures, including maintaining records of training activities and employee progress; assists other trainers with classes in session; may review trainee work, claims paid or calls; constantly monitors the effectiveness of training
• Serves as a mentor for new and less experienced training team members, as needed
• Performs other related duties as required
Total Rewards
The salary range for this job is $55,000 - $75,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
