Job Summary

Works closely with Legal, Government Relations, Internal Audit, and various other departments to assist in analyzing state and federal insurance requirements; compiles information necessary to prepare statutory department of insurance (DOI) filings and other forms required by the DOI in the states where the company does business; assists in the management and coordination of Market Conduct Examinations including the review of previous examination findings to assess current regulatory/market conduct exposures and review of corrective actions to ensure continued compliance

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Serves as a liaison between the Company and State Insurance Department and other regulatory entities; tracks, researches and responds to Department of Insurance complaints within established time frames; assists in the management and coordination of Market Conduct Examinations including the review of previous examination findings to assess current regulatory/market conduct exposures and review of corrective actions to ensure continued compliance; assists in the research and/or coordination of responses to regulatory inquiries ; forwards more complex initiatives to a more experienced compliance analyst for guidance and/or action 
  • Guided by more experienced analyst(s), operates with some limited latitude for independent action or decision-making while recommending sound internal control practices, and consistent interpretation and implementation of compliance policies and standards across the organization; on an ongoing basis, monitors compliance of business units to established regulatory guidelines, procedures, and policies; conducts continuous improvement audits to ensure that corrective actions are followed; drives an ongoing awareness and understanding of and monitors adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and compliance processes to ensure that the appropriate control environment is documented and tracked; provides input on various committees (product, claims review, business process, etc.) 
  • Performs research to collect relevant information and stay abreast of legislative changes in the industry; reviews insurance laws and regulations, and works with management to determine the impact to Aflac’s policies and services; coordinates the implementation of changes to processes and procedures based on new laws and regulations; acts as a liaison between the division and other departments within the company to ensure ongoing compliance with laws and regulations; communicates with state insurance departments to resolve issues, answer questions, and/or clarify interpretations of laws and regulations or potential changes in business practices; conducts random audits to ensure continued compliance 
  • Plans, organizes, arranges, conducts, completes, assists, and reports on audits examinations as necessary; reviews existing department processes and procedures; works closely with Training, Quality, and other departments to recommend changes or enhancements that streamline activities or enhance service turnaround times, productivity, and quality; facilitates effective and efficient use of corporate resources that enhance customer satisfaction, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations 
  • Performs other tasks as required

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Minimum Required Bachelor's Degree management, business administration, health care management, or a related field
  • Minimum Required two years of related work experience working with the establishment of business processes/procedures derived from compliance, regulatory, and/or business policy issues

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Preferred HIAA designation
