Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills ( Advanced Excel, Intermediate PowerPoint)
  • Accounting or Budgetary Software: Intermediate (SAP Preferred)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analyses and related valuation methodologies, systems and quantitative business-based analyses, and creating metrics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other federal regulations relative to Financial issues
  • Familiar with state insurance department statutes and other state regulations (with an emphasis on insurance accounting)
  • Demonstrated competencies in cost management and project management

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Seven years of professional job-related work experience
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and statistical analysis

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researches, at the request of Senior Managers and Managers, compliance and regulatory policies as well as requirements related to budgets for assigned groups
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management
  • Assists Managers, Senior Managers, Senior Consultants and other members of the organization with researching Financial Planning and Analysis best practices; develops subject matter expertise in multiple FP&A areas
  • Reports, analyzes, and interprets financial and operating data, including financial statements; participates in the preparation and compilation of the annual financial plan, budget and/or forecast
  • Reconciles plan to actual expenses and explains balance fluctuations; develops quarterly estimates and operational forecasts for divisions; provides unique insight into forecasting process
  • Prepares updates, progress and variance reports, as well as other ad hoc reports for management reporting
  • Assists in supporting development and assessment of projects and initiatives including budget capacity / affordability; performs benefit realization analysis for projects and initiatives to assess their performance to budget
  • Works with Senior Analysts and Managers to provide and gather relevant information for the financial planning process; prepares financial forecasts and budget proposals

FP&A SPOC job duties 

  • Acts as financial consultant and advisor to division leader related to expense management; serves as point of contact to anticipate and identify FP&A needs, communicates and introduces service requests into FP&A organization, and collaborates with division leadership on expense management opportunities
  • Interfaces with one or more division heads, and (as necessary) the FP&A Business Partner (FBP), to coordinate planning & forecasting services in alignment with customer requirements
  • Works with Corporate FP&A Leader to translate business customer needs into specific action plans for FP&A associates, and to balance workload and resource allocation to meet business needs
  • Identifies services & customer expectations in collaboration with the FBPs, Process Leads and Corporate FP&A Leader and ensures that the delivery of services is aligned with those expectations
  • Attends division leader meetings, participates in expense reviews with division leaders, and contributes to development of improvement plans within function
  • Collaborates with Corporate FP&A Leader, US/AGI FBPs and their business partners to set and distribute annual expense targets that align function/ division performance to enterprise objectives
  • Collaborates with division leadership in creating the annual expense plan and periodic forecasts
  • Works with division leaders to identify expense drivers and “what-if” scenarios for planning models
  • Works with US/AGI FBPs, and operations and division leaders to operationalize plans, evaluate performance against plans, identify corrective action, and realign expectations as needed
  • Develops and monitors expense management action plans, including variances to plan and future forecasts; drives understanding, analysis and resolution of root causes of performance gaps
  • Supports US/AGI FBPs in analyzing expense performance trends across business dimensions (e.g., channel, product, market, etc.) as needed; identifies risks and opportunities and means to address
  • As needed, assists Corporate FP&A with developing summary narratives to “tell the story” behind performance gaps and trends
  • Challenges division management in applying analytical insights to improve expense control
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $90,000 to $120,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
