Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. 

 

Job Summary

Located in the U.S., provides actuarial services for Aflac Re Bermuda Ltd. (Aflac Re), a Bermuda domiciled reinsurer. This role leads a fast-growing and fast-paced actuarial modeling team to support all key actuarial functions that include pricing, valuation, reporting, asset liability management (ALM), capital management, and other actuarial analyses as needed. Oversees the development and implementation of all Aflac Re models in MG ALFA as well as other actuarial end using computing (EUC) models as needed, and performs analytics needed to support profitability analysis and ALM management. Role reports to Aflac Re Bermuda Chief Actuary. Within Aflac Re, partners with the pricing actuarial team in providing modeling support for deal pricing, and works with the valuation actuarial team to oversee the model life cycle for all actuarial reporting and source of earnings analysis, as well as other analyses as needed. In addition, this role supports the Chief Actuary by providing ALM and other ad hoc analytics to support, including but not limited to, Aflac Re’s asset and hedging strategy. Liaises with other key functions within Aflac such as investment, risk, legal, accounting, US GAAP valuation, and Aflac Japan as well as with external service providers and consultants who support the modeling life cycle. Role is highly visible to the senior management teams of Aflac Re Bermuda and Aflac Inc. in supporting Aflac global reinsurance strategy.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation
  • 10 years of professional job related work experience, 5 years management experience
  • 10 years of actuarial work experience
  • Extensive experience in modeling and at least two of the following actuarial functions: product development, financial reporting, reinsurance, hedging, ALM, and capital management

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Experience working with Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet and Capital Solvency Return reporting

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads the model development, implementation, process automation, design, and documentation to support pricing, valuation, and other key actuarial functions

 

• Leads the development for tools and analytics to support hedging and ALM strategy

 

• Partners with the Pricing Actuary to support reinsurance pricing design and supporting analytics

 

• Partners with the Valuation Actuary to support valuation processes, and regulatory and ad hoc stress testing for analysis and reporting

 

• Supports the model owner for model risk management, model documentation and model validation

 

• Supports the Chief Actuary developing materials to be presented at Aflac Re's board committee meetings

 

• Supports the Chief Actuary to serve as liaison with other key functions or represents Aflac Re at global committees if needed

 

• Provides support to Aflac Inc. or its affiliates (other than Aflac Re Bermuda) as requested from time to time

 

• This is not an exhaustive list and the Actuary shall be expected to perform other duties as required

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $175,000 to $230,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
