Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills ( Advanced Excel, Intermediate PowerPoint)
  • Accounting or Budgetary Software: Intermediate (SAP Preferred)
  • Demonstrated competencies in cost management and project management
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analyses and related valuation methodologies, systems and quantitative business-based analyses, and creating metrics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other federal regulations relative to Financial issues
  • Familiar with state insurance department statutes and other state regulations (with an emphasis on insurance accounting)

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Six years of professional job-related work experience
  • Two to Four years of experience in financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and statistical analysis

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with senior management in refining the company’s annual financial planning processes, corporate consolidations, coordination of design and testing changes to various financial models; works across divisions to provide and gather relevant information for the planning process; prepares financial forecasts and prepares what-if scenarios; works with division representatives to resolve financial issues
  • Participates in the analysis of macro-economic trends and assists senior team members in assessing and evaluating emerging issues
  • Works on analyses requiring the integration and coordination of a variety of elements; assists in development and reporting of metrics in support of strategic efforts and/or business operations
  • Exercises independent action and decision making while working on moderate to complex analyses requiring the integration and coordination of a variety of elements; leads and/or assists in development and reporting of metrics in support of strategic efforts, long range financial and business plans and/or business operations; identifies and highlights key trends and insights based on analysis; develops subject matter expertise in FP&A areas to eventually become SME in designated areas
  • Maintains and applies internal controls; documents process requirements, business processes, process flow, and systems enhancements; ensures that the financial processes, reporting and other activities are in accordance with established company policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines
  • Develops appropriate analytical models, reports, and metrics to support informed decision making; modifies the planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes accordingly; develops overall tactical elements via plans, flows and processes, and wrap up reports for the division
  • Identifies and implements process improvements and standardized controls
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $90,000 - $120,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
