Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA, for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

• Broad knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts, and federal and state laws and regulations of human resources such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC , ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, IRS code 125/129, etc., and all applicable reporting requirements

 

• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and team facilitation skills to effectively interact with senior management, and internal and external customers

 

• Strong analytical and project management skills to interpret and adapt known methods, regulations, system procedures, or operating concepts to new situations

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management or a related field
  • Four or more years of job related work experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • PHR Designation

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for vetting and staying abreast of federal and state regulations while working closely with Legal, Compliance, HR and others to ensure compliance. Audits and researches laws/regulations and makes determination if new or changing laws/regulations are applicable to Aflac and makes the appropriate communication and follow up to ensure compliance

 

• Serves as the primary administrator for the offboarding process in Successfactors

 

• Advises/trains leaders regarding human resources policies, procedures, and practices; maintains compliance with federal employment laws and regulations; identifies local and state legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions, and implements changes as necessary; and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance and are communicated effectively

 

• Provides employee relations/investigation support ,conducts analysis on employee grievances and complaints as needed, and consults with or escalates to the corporate legal department as required;

 

• Collaborates with the Internal Audit department by maintaining and monitoring documentation of personal conduct policy violations and reporting to the Internal Audit department as requested

 

• Responsible for ensuring the employee handbook(s) are valid, in compliance, and changes communicated in accordance with SOX Control requirements; manages the communication process for all Handbook changes to include coordination with HR Systems for electronic Employee Acknowledgement of the Handbook

 

• Coordinates and reports on phishing accountability, SOX audits/controls, HR forms, exit survey data.

 

• Assists with the dissemination of regulatory changes to the employee handbook and Employee Relations procedure manual to the Employee Relations team; facilitates the development of processes and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, including participation in business process improvement efforts and compliance improvement initiatives; reports on the status of process changes and escalates issues as appropriate

 

• Manages bulletin boards for all locations to ensure all federal and state required postings are posted and current by partnering with Health Services and the Legal department

 

• Responsible for running and monitoring the reporting of open SAP grievance and corrective action entries made by the HR Business Partner team

 

• Provides functional human resource program management support to managers and employees with regard to employee relations, management and employee training, and other human resources functions;

 

• Conducts monthly Employee Relations and Wage and Hour sessions as part of the Aflac Processes training to newly hired and promoted leaders

 

• Performs extensive investigative research as needed using Global Security systems

 

• Conducts analysis on data as needed to assist in the investigative process

 

• Performs other related duties as required

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $70,000 to $85,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
