Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in New York, NY for at least 60% of the work week. The investment teams support GI’s overall goals and objectives by providing market insight and in-depth knowledge of assigned asset classes. GI oversees the strategic deployment of capital for life and supplemental health insurance company balance sheets utilizing both internal teams and external third party asset managers
Program Overview
This internship provides hands-on exposure to credit research within Aflac’s Global Investments organization. The intern will work closely with experienced analysts to understand how investment-grade portfolios are monitored, how credit risk is assessed, and how research supports portfolio management decisions. Through security-level and industry-focused analysis, the intern will gain insight into credit evaluation, financial statement review, and the role of research in maintaining portfolio quality within a long-term institutional investment framework.
Job functional responsibilities include:
• Support the credit research team by assisting with the monitoring of investment-grade portfolios, including reviewing credit ratings, issuer fundamentals, and sector trends.
• Assist analysts with research on specific securities and industries by gathering financial data, reviewing public disclosures, and summarizing key credit metrics.
• Contribute to internal credit analysis by helping prepare research materials, peer comparisons, and supporting documentation used in investment recommendations.
• Support ongoing portfolio surveillance efforts by helping track rating changes, credit events, and other risk indicators across covered holdings.
Additional qualifications include:
- Graduate-level student in finance, economics, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting and financial statement analysis.
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and analyze financial data.
- Interest in credit research, fixed income markets, and investment analysis
- All candidates must have eligibility to work permanently in the U.S. and must be physically located in the continental U.S. for the duration of internship.
- Working time zone is Eastern Standard Time in New York City.
- Worker Designation: “hybrid work schedule – minimum of 3 days per week” and excited to have in-person learning for the summer of 2026.
The range on these positions is: $18.75-$31.25/hr. and is a non-exempt position. The position requires the individual to work 40 hours per week for ~10 weeks based on the company’s hybrid work schedule noted above. A housing stipend will be provided for non-local candidates.
This compensation range is specific to the job level and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
