Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in New York, NY for at least 60% of the work week. The investment teams support GI’s overall goals and objectives by providing market insight and in-depth knowledge of assigned asset classes. GI oversees the strategic deployment of capital for life and supplemental health insurance company balance sheets utilizing both internal teams and external third party asset managers.
Program Overview
The Summer Internship is an intensive 10-week internship program with Global Investments. This internship provides hands-on exposure to the middle- and back-office functions that support Aflac’s Global Investments trading activity. The intern will gain an understanding of how trades move through the lifecycle—from execution to settlement—and how operational teams ensure accuracy, liquidity, and efficiency across a large portfolio of investment accounts. Working closely with trade operations professionals, the intern will develop foundational knowledge of investment operations, cash management processes, broker interaction, and process optimization within a highly regulated corporate investment environment.
Job functional responsibilities include:
- Support daily trade operations activities across Aflac investment entities, including trade processing, settlement support, and reconciliation tasks.
- Assist with operational reviews across multiple investment accounts to help ensure accuracy, sufficient cash positioning, and timely trade settlement.
- Partner with internal teams and external brokers to help resolve trade-related inquiries and support ongoing operational workflows.
- Contribute to small process-improvement projects by documenting procedures, identifying efficiency opportunities, and assisting with basic automation or reporting enhancements using Excel.
Additional qualifications include:
- undergraduate or graduate degree in finance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- All candidates must have eligibility to work permanently in the U.S. and must be physically located in the continental U.S. for the duration of internship.
- Working time zone is Eastern Standard Time in New York City.
- Worker Designation: “hybrid work schedule – minimum of 3 days per week” and excited to have in-person learning for the summer of 2026.
The range on these positions is: $18.75-$31.25/hr. and is a non-exempt position. The position requires the individual to work 40 hours per week for ~10 weeks based on the company’s hybrid work schedule noted above. A housing stipend will be provided for non-local candidates.
This compensation range is specific to the job level and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
