Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in New York, NY for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

The investment teams support GI’s overall goals and objectives by providing market insight and in-depth knowledge of assigned asset classes. GI oversees the strategic deployment of capital for life and supplemental health insurance company balance sheets utilizing both internal teams and external third party asset managers.

 

Program Overview

 

The Summer Internship is an intensive 10-week internship program with Global Investments. This internship provides exposure to the portfolio management and reporting functions within Aflac’s Global Investments organization. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting financial analysis, investment reporting, and data automation efforts that inform internal investment committees and senior stakeholders. Working alongside experienced investment professionals, the intern will learn how portfolio data is consolidated, analyzed, and communicated across asset classes in a highly regulated corporate investment environment, while developing strong analytical, technical, and business process skills.

 

Job functional responsibilities include: 

  • Support portfolio reporting and financial analysis by assisting with the preparation, consolidation, and validation of investment data across asset classes, with a focus on fixed income.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of automated reporting processes, helping streamline recurring reports used for internal investment reviews and committees.
  • Prepare and organize materials, metrics, and supporting data for internal investment committee presentations, including asset class activity, purchases, and sales.
  • Partner with team members to help maintain data accuracy, improve reporting workflows, and document business processes related to portfolio analytics. 

 

 

Additional qualifications include: 

 

  • Interest in asset management, investments, or financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with data and reporting tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Exposure to SQL and/or Python for data analysis or automation is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work with large datasets.
  • All candidates must have eligibility to work permanently in the U.S. and must be physically located in the continental U.S. for the duration of internship. Working time zone is Eastern Standard Time in New York City.

     

     

    The range on these positions is: $31.25/hr. and is a non-exempt position. The position requires the individual to work 40 hours per week for ~10 weeks based on the company’s hybrid work schedule noted above. A housing stipend will be provided for non-local candidates.

     

    This compensation range is specific to the job level and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
