Job Summary

Within Aflac Global Investments, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aflac, Inc., the Portfolio Analyst will support the Director, Portfolio Manager who reports to U.S. CIO in portfolio management and investment planning responsibilities for the U.S. investment portfolios.  These investment portfolios may include core and core plus fixed income, growth assets, and alternatives allowed under the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) initiatives at the firm.  As a key contributor to the U.S. CIO’s team, the candidate must have technical fluency with respect to investments and capital markets.  The qualified candidate will have knowledge of the monitoring and oversight requirements for the investing of an insurance company investment portfolio and experience supporting portfolio management within a constrained environment.  This position will collaborate with the global external management team and internal asset class research teams in execution of approved investment initiatives.   The individual will also be liaison with the firm’s business partners in the remit of the U.S. CIO’s responsibilities and activities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the investment portfolios are invested in accordance with the firm’s SAA, TAA, investment policy, constraints and guidelines, and special portfolio guidelines, as applicable.
  • Experience supporting portfolio management or buy/sell side analyst experience in Fixed Income, with solid understanding of fixed income products and analysis, including valuation, stress testing for corporate bonds, structured credit and other assets within the investment portfolios.
  • Implement approved TAA for the investment portfolios.
  • Manage the U.S. CIO’s responsibilities in the annual budgeting and new money forecasting process for the investment portfolios.
  • Contribute to team dialogue on investment views in support of the firm’s SAA and TAA, and the Local CIOs, senior management, and external management team.
  • Provide capital markets acumen for U.S. CIO teams by maintaining and designing capital markets and asset class monitors and reports.
  • Produce and contribute to the refinement of the U.S. CIO portfolio dashboards and portfolio exposure reports, leveraging the firm’s investment in technology.
  • Design and enhance comprehensive highly automated analytical desk tools using Python/Pandas to increase efficiency; document all coding/work and use testing methodology for debugging.
  • Collaborate with the global investments team and the firm’s business partners on investment portfolio initiatives.
  • Collaboration with external management team on investment planning as needed.
  • Participate on special projects as needed.  



  • 7 years of experience with 2-5 years as a portfolio analyst and/or portfolio management support
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related field; MBA / CFA welcomed.


  • Experience supporting portfolio management or buy-side/sell-side analyst experience in fixed income, equity, alternative markets; experience in insurance asset management is preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of capital markets, portfolio management theory, performance attribution and reporting.
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated communication and executive level presentation skills.
  • Ability to execute on goals, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, yet accustomed to working and collaborating in a team environment.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Technical Skills

  • Programming skills with Python and Pandas
  • Strong quantitative skills - stochastic calculas
  • Advanced Excel skills - including full suite of MS Office products
