Aflac Asset Management, LLC, (d.b.a. The investment teams support GI’s overall goals and objectives by implementing, managing, and overseeing multiple portfolios encompassing different strategies across various fixed income and growth asset classes utilizing both internal teams of analysts, portfolio managers, and traders and external third party asset managers.  GI utilizes a rigorous approach to deploying and managing assets driven by a disciplined strategic asset allocation which establishes portfolio parameters based on long term expectations for performance.

Job Summary

Working as a key member of Aflac Global Investments (GI) and the Global Trade Operations Management team in New York City, collaborate on the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the trade operations workflows.  The position requires expertise in the asset management, knowledge of fixed income, private placements, derivatives (spots, forwards, options, swaps) and related middle and back office daily operational processes.  The role includes performing daily operational tasks, interacting with service providers and counterparties, making process improvement recommendations that enhance the value, efficiencies and automation of Global Investments Trade Operations.  In addition to the daily responsibilities described below; the AVP, Trade Operations will also work on broad range of projects and help to support communications with colleagues in Japan Operations and other key stakeholders (to foster a more efficient work-stream. 

 

Reports to:  Vice President, Head of Trade Operations, U.S.

 

Other Relationships: Japan Operations, Risk, Compliance, IT, Investment Accounting, Custodians, Treasury, FP&A and other key stakeholders.

 

Overall Responsibilities

  • Provide trading workflow operational support to ensure trade matching and settlement, engage with custodians and internal stakeholders, researching and resolving all trade discrepancies with counterparties.
  • Reconcile cash, investment activity and positions between order management system, custodians and accounting systems.
  • Maintain books and records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Set up accounts with brokers and custodians.
  • Execute money movement transactions including internal transfers and outgoing wires.
  • Assist with set up and maintenance of SSIs.
  • Monitor and execute corporate action events.
  • Experience with margin and collateral managements and counterparty interactions.
  • Daily cash management and cash balance monitoring.
  • Monitoring and supporting securities lending program.    
  • Assist and support day to day management of global custodians.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the advancement of controls and process documentation to enhance the control environment.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in procedural documentation and making the necessary updates.
  • Work with vendors and internal groups to evaluate the operational requirements to support existing and new investment instruments and account types. 
  • Lead the advancement of investment trade operations reports, KPIs and processes, ensure all systems and applications have strong process workflow, minimizing errors and time.
  • Work with Japan Operations as necessary to help communicate global workflows.
  • Participate or lead in ad-hoc projects.

 

Candidate Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in financial services technology and trade operations management (preferably life insurance and/or asset management.)
  • Direct experience in Fixed Income, Private Placements and Derivatives operations with minimum of 5 years.
  • B.A. / B.S degree in accounting, finance, business, data science, computer science or similar quantitative disciplines.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Markit, DTCC CTM, IVP, Tri-Optima, FX ALL, Aladdin, and Bloomberg Products.
  • Experience in Python,  Microsoft Power Automate, Power Query and VBA is a plus.
  • Superior MS Excel skill set including pivot tables, reference and lookup formulas, macros, etc., intermediate ability to work with MS Power Point is a plus.
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail with an ability to analyze large amounts of data and extract meaningful information and identify findings in a succinct format.
  • Be able to identify and improve data accuracy and processes used in production of financial, accounting and investment reporting purposes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present and articulate issues clearly and succinctly with all levels of management, variety of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • A team player with a strong work ethic and professional attitude.
  • Reliable and punctual, self-starter with excellent problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with other individuals and departments.

 

The range on this positions is:   $68,000 to $175,000

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
