Worker Designation – This role is an onsite role. You will be required to work at the Aflac Support Center - West in Columbus, GA during your set working schedule.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Basic knowledge of Windows based personal computer; basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; DOS, and TSO
  • Ability to operate all printing and other job-related equipment, and knowledge of all applicable preventive maintenance procedures
  • Broad knowledge of applicable shipping and mailing codes, requirements, and deadlines 
  • Knowledge of and ability to successfully perform all processing tasks within the department and to meet all established proficiencies, quotas, or other established productivity standards
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make relatively straight-forward comparisons between numbers and letters
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal/external customers, exchange information on factual matters, and understand and transmit instructions using good oral and interpersonal communications skills

Education & Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three years of job related work experience
  • Prior experience operating digital cut sheet and/or production inkjet printing
    equipment

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Prior experience in mail processing
  • Prior experience operating the following mail processing equipment or similar functional equipment: Strapping Machine, high-speed production mail inserters, folders, mail meters, booklet makers etc.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs activities to successfully operate all digital cut sheet and production inkjet printing systems, ; includes setting up, monitoring, and controlling operating systems and peripheral equipment; routes jobs from mainframe to the correct virtual printer; utilizes DataServer to submit jobs to the correct printer; researches error messages; and manipulates the console to resequence job steps after a job is interrupted
  • Makes required equipment adjustments in accordance with the specifications of each print job; including but not limited to selecting the appropriate paper stock, job profile, and other printing specifications; audits jobs during and after printing to ensure that quality and accuracy is maintained and that required financial audits are successfully completed; resolves operating or output errors and/or discrepancies; refers more complex issues to senior team members
  • Operates printing machine(s); receives jobs and reviews job specifications to determine equipment setup and operating requirements; sets up machines according to job specifications, starts machines, releases jobs from print queues, and makes a trial run to verify accuracy of machine setup; observes operations to detect machine malfunctions and makes adjustments as required; monitors the inflow of printing jobs to schedule printing priorities and meet operating deadlines
  • Operates machine(s) that automatically performs mail-processing operations; receives jobs and reviews job specifications to determine equipment setup and operating requirements; enters computer job codes, setup machines according to job specifications, loads appropriate output material (envelopes, printed documents, etc.), starts machines and makes a trial run to verify accuracy of machine setup; observes operations to detect machine malfunctions and makes adjustments as required
  • Makes required equipment adjustments in accordance with the specifications of each job; audits jobs to ensure quality and accuracy is maintained and required financial audits are successfully completed, advises team-lead about any discrepancies identified
  • Adheres to all production control processes and production deadlines; maintains operating logs and process documentation; reviews source documents for data input and confirms paper stock selection; performs visual examination to check for accuracy and relevance of input and output data, and makes the necessary adjustments to correct errors; conducts random audits on output to verify output against control totals; reviews format and accuracy of printout to ensure the highest production quality possible; completes all inventory and financial control logs; sorts, assembles, and distributes output to appropriate departments once all audit controls are
    successfully completed
  • Adheres to the SOP on record for the print operator for both the digital cut sheet and production inkjet printers;; maintains a secure environment and secure operating instructions for highly sensitive and confidential information, documents, and inventory
  • Performs basic operator preventive maintenance and minor repairs to maintain machines and equipment in good operating condition and refers more complex issues or repair work to senior team members or vendor technicians for resolution
  • Performs all tasks and takes all precautions necessary to ensure that a safe and clean environment is maintained on the production floor; follows all appropriate documented safety and/or hazard policies or procedures while operating machines and other equipment
  • Performs other duties as required and supports all other aspects of the 6S plan

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $35,000 - $45,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. 

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
