Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbia, SC for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

  • If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. 
  • If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodology of project management, root cause analysis, and change management
  • Proficient in process improvement techniques; diagnostic and creative problem-solving skills; and excellent, analytical, facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of project life cycle, business capabilities framework, and business process re-engineering
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and the ability to collaborate with business unit customers, IT, and management to reach a common agreement
  • Strong consultative skill set including problem identification, solution development, and gaining buy in of customers
  • Excellent presentation, oral, and written communications skills
  • Ability to mentor and train project team members, analysts, and project managers

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Six years of professional job related work experience in project, program or portfolio management, business analysis, process improvement, change management, developing business and/or technical documentation for end-users, business process modeling/mapping, methodologies development and/or in leading complex projects with proven success
  • Prior experience in a project management, consultative or problem solving environment that includes working with cross-functional groups to implement projects

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt) or other comparable project management/quality certification; program management (PgMP) certification preferred.

 

Travel

  • Less than or equal to 10%

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision, is responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of multiple, related projects directed towards strategic business and organizational objectives for programs that contain complex activities that may span functions, organizations and geographic regions
  • Builds credibility, establishes rapport and drives communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization.
  • Works with and coordinates project managers and business stakeholders to help develop and prioritize multiple and often related projects that achieve one or more long-term business goals based on the business area’s objectives as well as the company’s strategic direction
  • Maintains continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives, makes recommendations to enhance effectiveness toward the business result; responsible for determining and coordinating the sharing of resources among constituent projects to the overall benefit of the program
  • Analyzes program risks and evaluates methods of assessing program strengths and identify areas for improvement; monitors and assures that project work remains feasible from a business standpoint; works to maintain a strategic focus and ensure that efforts are driven to the final completion of projects
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members, consultants and analysts with assigned initiatives and projects; provides assistance as required
  • Manages the human experience of project implementation to include but not limited to the development and deployment of stakeholder engagement and user adoption planning, sponsor roadmaps, communication plans, resistance plans
  • Advocates for discipline and management of projects through the support and adherence to a governance structure that aligns with key strategic objectives by collaborating with key business stakeholders and executives
  • Produces accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle; ensures that goals and deadlines are consistently being met or exceeded, including customer satisfaction, quality, and team performance
  • Performs other duties as required

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $167,000.
