What does it take to be successful in this role?

• Demonstrated experience in developing projects across all phases of the project life cycle; demonstrated experience in developing functional specifications, process decomposition diagrams, user interface designs, and field level descriptions.

 

• Experience in developing testing processes, scripts, and tracking methods (preferred); experience in working simultaneously with technical IT resources and non-technical business resources and users or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

• Working knowledge of the tools, concepts methodologies, and techniques of business process analysis and modeling, such as root cause analysis, cost/benefit analysis, process mapping/simulation, data modeling, problem identification and interpretation, process change management, and performance measures.

 

• A strong understanding of business operations, requirements processes, business modeling concepts, and software development methodologies.

 

• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodology of project management, quality management, and change management.

 

• Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communication and team facilitation skills to effectively interact and negotiate with senior management, internal and external customers, and persuade, market, and sell new ideas; ability to synthesize and decide best communication approaches for technical issues and information.

 

• Strong analytical skills to interpret and adapt known methods, system procedures, or operating concepts to new situations.

 

• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment.

Education & Experience Required

        Bachelor's Degree In business administration, computer science, or a related field

        4 or more years of related work experience in a business analyst role performing business analysis, developing business requirements, using analysis techniques, writing technical and/or online documentation for end-users.

        Claims or Leave Absence & Disability experience.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads small to medium scale business initiatives/projects; manages one or more projects simultaneously; develops detailed project plans; facilitates development of current and future state process maps that support the process improvement effort; creates and presents recommendations to executive management seeking approval of recommended process improvements; effectively communicate cross-functionally with multiple technical and nontechnical teams; responsible for adapting to change and shifting priorities quickly; coordinates with internal clients to ensure effective communication and awareness on new software/deliverables.

 

• Provides the business and technical project teams with constructive feedback pertaining to project performance; develops and maintains a productive working relationship with business leaders, IT representatives, vendors, and key clients, including providing regular project updates; Provides subject matter expertise in online experience.

 

• Identify and manage risk associated to brand degradation; serves as point of contact for escalated requests, media threats, system outages, regulatory, privacy, legal and compliance issues; communicates impacts to external/internal customers and provide a clear mitigation plan; responsible for ensuring deliverables meet or exceed quality standards (by creating acceptance criteria), increase software performance, improve customer experience, safeguard policyholder information while meeting deadlines; facilitates focus groups and sprint review sessions identify pain points and collect feedback to improve product.

 

• Leads process improvement efforts to define, measure, analyze, and improve processes; plans, organizes, and implements process improvements, including project design, development, and implementation; monitors development and implementation to ensure that projects support departmental goals, meet the needs of the business unit, and are integrated smoothly within time, budget, resource commitment, and standards maintained for all project activities, system implementations, upgrades, and releases.

 

• Evaluates sources of information in order to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability; identifies and rationalizes the use of metrics and reports; proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements.

 

• Oversees the complete development life cycle (business case development, cost/benefit analysis, project/sprint success measures, user story and acceptance criteria gathering, business process and technical design, product development, testing and implementation), to include creation of associated deliverables from the business perspective; supports other projects and agile teams by providing input on enhancements that have impacts/dependencies to policyholder’s online service tools.

 

• Understands the need for demonstrating cross-functional capabilities amongst the Agile team members; able to identify strengths in team members to gain the most productive deliverables with personal team satisfaction; manage business expectations by keeping executive leadership/stakeholders abreast of progress and potential issues; develops and presents roadmap to align product with corporate vision.

 

• Acts on behalf of executive leadership regarding acceptance criteria, priority of work being delivered, and provides overview of value being delivered through sprints reviews; accountable for project deliverables; understand the technology that supports the applicable business and the limitations/dependencies preventing certain business features from being accomplished; coordinate with to ensure requirements, priorities and decisions are obtained and incorporated into user stories.

 

• Translates strategic vision into technical specifications by creating user stories, acceptance criteria and definition of done; responsible for identifying and releasing minimum viable products (MVP) to deliver value sooner.

 

• Leads teams within the Agile framework to align work priority by creating roadmaps and communication vision; serves as customer proxy through facilitation of sprint planning and backlog refinement sessions by presenting priority items and business case based on the voice of the customer, industry trends, competitor analyses, stakeholder feedback, and enterprise initiatives; allocate agile team members availability for other projects.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $80,000 to $100,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

 

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
