Worker Designation – This role is designated as a remote role. You will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. Although this role is designated as remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. What does it take to be successful in this role?

• Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint: Advanced

 

• Experience or proficiency with Visio, SharePoint or similar “library” tools, and Tableau or other dashboard tools.

 

• Strong quantitative and analysis skills.

 

• Knowledge and experience with standards of financial reporting (preferred).

 

• Knowledge of Aflac’s products and the insurance industry landscape (preferred).

 

• Knowledge and understanding in identifying competitive intelligence as inputs to the strategic planning and strategic early warning processes on a continual basis

 

• Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal communications and team facilitation skills to interact effectively with senior management, and internal and external customers.

 

• Ability to complete a variety of research summaries, briefs, and research projects.

 

• Proven time management skills.

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree In Marketing or a related field
  • Six or more years professional job-related experience
  • Experience in competitive intelligence or market research, and marketing

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Master's Degree

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Develops and implements appropriate triggers for information collection from a variety of sources; collects and analyzes competitive and market intelligence information such as, but not limited to, external industry landscape, technology and operations, sales processes, sales enablement, sales compensation programs, data on competitors such as financial performance, products, management, litigation, industry ratings, service, business model, and industry standing.

 

• Develops and maintains up to date synopses on market trends, competitive forces, and penetration strategies; communicates regularly how the competitive and market intelligence information gathered impacts the company; creates and circulates competitor management and industry profiles, financial summaries (quarterly and annually), and other reports that support activities across divisions.

 

• Supports the corporate participation in various data collection projects such as LIMRA, Eastbridge, Gen Re, and ACLI quarterly, annually, and as needed.

 

• Prepares ad hoc competitive and market intelligence summaries and reports for Aflac Inc. divisions and market offices, sales, Product Development, etc.,

 

• Works with Aflac Group and Aflac traditional marketing, sales, and strategy teams in order to determine their product competitive intelligence needs; field staff with evaluation of various products and services as needed; assists in responding to field requests for intelligence and information in a compliance approved format as needed.

 

• Provides topic specific competitor intelligence and market information to Product Development, as requested, for product evaluation and development.

 

• Maintains up to date level of knowledge and awareness of products, industry trends and activities such as Health care reform, regulatory requirements, and litigation with a focus on the significance to Aflac business and growth.

 

• Completes all internal required training programs such as HIPAA, privacy, security and managing data to ensure that the department practices are compliant with these requirements, as well as SCIP standards for Competitive Intelligence analysts.

 

• Responds to internal information needs by continually refining methodology for collecting, cataloging, evaluating, and communicating competitive and market intelligence information; maintains appropriate, compliant archives while leveraging share point and related tools for content curation.

 

• Ensures that data is effectively communicated to internal audiences and the designated Aflac Sales and Account Executive Force by using established tools including newsletters and alerts; provides support in training and helping new field force associates learn how to access various online competitive intelligence tools and resources, and assists in the annual satisfaction feedback assessment.

 

• Produces actionable competitive intelligence briefs using a systematic process that discerns and transforms random bits and pieces of data into strategic knowledge.

 

• Reports any competitor alerts to management and field force in a timely manner.

 

• Works with the field force to determine their competitive intelligence needs; develops appropriate strategies for the field force in combating competitive sales situations, develops and updates competitor product analyses/comparisons, and obtains compliance approval for web site placement and dissemination to the field force

 

• Works across divisions to gain competitive insights and address competitive risk and opportunities.

 

• Keeps abreast of tools and techniques for gathering and disseminating competitive intelligence information, data display and curation.

 

• Obtains competitor department of insurance state and interstate compact product filings for review, analysis, and curation.; creates product gap reports.

 

• Provides support to sales and account executives in market facing material including Market Messaging, Finalist Material, brochures, and pre- and post-sale assets to help tell story, value proposition and differentiators clearly.

 

• Collaborates across the company to ensure resources utilized for brand standards, vendors, and connection to other Aflac divisions is maintained and redundancy is avoided. 

 

• Performs other related duties as required

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $160,000.
