Worker Designation – This role is a remote role. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
• In-depth knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts, and federal and state laws and regulations of human resources such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC , ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, OSHA, IRS code 125/129, etc., and all applicable reporting requirements
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and team facilitation skills to effectively interact with senior management, and internal and external customers
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills to interpret and adapt known methods, regulations, system procedures, or operating concepts to new situations
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the company
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business administration/management, or a related field
- 6+ years of leave / accommodation experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
- Certificate - Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
- Experience in process mapping, analysis, and transforming methodologies
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops and proposes innovative solutions, process flows, and best practices to optimize the end to end leave and accommodation life cycle
• Act as a subject matter expert for complex, sensitive, or escalated leave and accommodation cases
• Provide guidance to HR team members and managers on nuanced scenarios involving FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, personal leave, military leave, state leaves, and other types.
• Facilitate communication between stakeholders (employees, managers, providers, vendors) to ensure smooth resolution of cases.
• Monitor leave case trends and recurring issues, recommending resolution strategies to leadership.
• Offer informal coaching and support to leave administrators on best practices and case handling.
• Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and enhanced employee experience.
• Collaborate with HRIS, Benefits, Payroll, Legal, and external vendors to implement new tools, policies, or process changes.
• Serve as a point of contact for cross-functional projects involving leave and accommodation programs.
• Create and maintain process documentation, training materials, and workflows.
• Ensure all leave and accommodation processes are fully compliant with applicable federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, HIPAA) and company policies.
• Assist in internal audits or external reviews to validate compliance and data integrity.
• Track regulatory changes and assess the impact on current leave and accommodation practices.
• Partner with Legal and Employee Relations to manage risk in complex accommodation or leave cases.
• Maintain secure, accurate, and up-to-date records and documentation for audit readiness.
• Mentors team members, standardizing best practices, and collaborating cross-functionally.
• Audits semi-monthly payroll change reports and ensures timely submission to payroll department
• Assist HR/TR and Benefits team with projects, i.e. Open Enrollment
• Performs other related duties as required
Total Rewards
The salary range for this job is $80,000 to $100,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
