Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.
- If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
- If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
- 5+ years (preferred) of experience in data science, analytics/consulting.
- Demonstrated experience performing complex predictive and prescriptive business-related analysis
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for designing, building, implementing, and monitoring predictive models across a multitude of US Aflac business use cases. Collaborates and/or leads cross-functional data science projects to ensure value is delivered for our business customers; designs, develops, and implements data-driven solutions for a wide range of clients.
• Leads and executes complex cross-divisional analytical projects for the organization, including resource, process, and technology needs.
• Design, develop, deploy, and monitor solutions that are integrated with the business; analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights using statistical models and machine learning techniques.
• Develops predictive models and algorithms to support decision-making and optimize business processes.
• Develops and refines a full understanding of multiple business domains (business metric criteria, data sources, processes, and behaviors) at the intermediate to advanced level.
• Assist in the design of solutions for the data science team, enabling them to perform daily task; mentors junior level team members, and provides technical guidance.
• Develops processes to be applied to extracted source data to move to target state; writes data cleansing functions, translates source code values to target value, standardizes free form values to codes; derives new values through calculations on existing fields; merges data from multiple sources to generate a consolidated source for the target.
• Leads special projects requiring commensurate analytical expertise and the development of executive level presentations, including identifying, defining, and implementing best-in-class analytical practices.
• Stays updated with the latest advancements in data science, AI, and analytics, incorporating new tools and techniques into projects.
• Leads and assists with the development and training of analysts in other internal business areas.
• Performs other duties as needed.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this job is $120,000 – $160,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
