Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Careful attention to detail for constant monitoring and evaluation of projects’ progress and factchecking tasks to ensure timely completion
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to facilitate global meetings, engage all members to accomplish tasks as scheduled, and interact effectively while exercising discretion, judgment, and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers, and executive management
  • Capable of working as a team member and building strong and effective relationships with diverse, cross-functional and multi-level participants both internally and externally
  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office software, including advanced proficiency in Excel and Word

 

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline
  • Four years of professional work-related experience, preferably in insurance or other financial industry

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with internal teams, including operations, marketing, facilities, HR and compliance to assist in ensuring global efforts for a successful and on-time completion of projects and tasks associated with calculating greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), responding to ESG surveys, publishing Aflac Incorporated’s Business and Sustainability Report and transitioning to net zero emissions are met.
  • Under the Manager’s direction, consults and supports in the planning and development of ESG communications which include the Business and Sustainability Report, Sustainability Bond Report, ESG portion of the Company’s website, TCFD Report and other ESG communications, including the writing, editing, tracking and securing approvals.
  • Develops and delivers training programs to ensure the Sustainability software used to capture emissions is used correctly and necessary access is provided.
  • Supports the monitoring and ensuring of compliance with relevant environmental regulations and sustainability standards through working with global compliance and legal teams, as well as external sustainability experts.
  • Maintains process documentation and related historical records of reports, submissions, working group meetings, and other relevant ESG material.
  • Identifies best practices and emerging trends in corporate sustainability to inform leadership on strategy.
  • Researches and shares findings on environmental, social and governance trends that may have a significant impact on the Company, including evolving standards and market practice.
  • Provides general support for ESG leadership as needed.
  • Acts as a global coordinator with both internal and external resources, as needed, and related to ESG projects or work flows for the Company,
  • Required to work outside of normal office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate time differences between U.S. and Japan.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $49,000 - $113,000.
